Camp Lakewood Lodge 2011
Well, another amazing week has been spent at camp. This year we took 40 of our wonderful students to participate in a full outdoor education programme at Lakewood Lodge in Glen Murray. It is a real opportunity to see our students use their competencies in a context beyond school. They managed themselves with maturity and persistence as well as caring for the other students they were working alongside.
Over the week they got to experience many different ways in which they could overcome physical and mental challenges. They managed admirably. Our students excelled in trying many things they have not tried before including horse-riding, rock wall climbing and kayaking. They also got to spend a full day participating in a 'Survivor' day. This involved lots of group problem-solving and resilience plus a whole lot of mud! We all enjoyed a day filled with laughter and giving eveything a go. Lunchtime meant building our own fires and cooking our sausages and damper - it's amazing how good it tasted after all the work committed to getting to the eating stage! The final night was something to cherish with students and staff performing in a concert which was a showcase for our talent and most of the time absolutely hilarious! The disco was the big finale which was enjoyed by everyone. Check out the Camp 2011 photos on the website.
I can speak for every adult on the trip when I say how proud we were of our students conduct and their 'try everything' attitude. They are amazing students and we are very privileged to work with them.
Have a great week!
