Room 3 is getting geared up to take on the CHOPPER CHALLENGE!!
Today was Room 3s first attempt at taking on the Chopper Challenge! The Chopper Challenge allows all of the students at SPS to take on something ‘hard’ or ‘tricky’ and raise money at the same time for a wonderful cause. There are a number of different exercises and obstacles that the students have to overcome and it is important that the students practise these various drills so that they can see the progress that they can make overtime.
This morning at around 9am Room 3 made their way to the senior courts to practise all the various drills that Brendon from Westpac Helicopter Trust and the team at Westpac Sylvia Park have trained in or have experience in.
Room 3 started with the 1kg back pack run which was difficult for some as they had to carry their backpacks on their backs whilst running in and out of cones.
From there we moved onto skipping non-stop for 2 minutes! It was really tricky for some and is something that we can all work on.
Then it was time to get down into the nitty gritty working on our abdominals, doing various exercises such as, burppies x 15, star jumps x 40, sit ups x 20 and even some of our really fit class members managed to do even more than what Brendon wanted!
Next we had to do the most challenging exercise, running for 2 minutes as fast as we could with our backpacks! We all started off with a bang but fizzled out after about 15 seconds as it was a really tiring exercise to complete.
After that we had to work as a ‘team’ and manoeuvre
Finally, we moved onto the monkey bars to complete our hanging exercise, some of us were just a little too short to hang on the big monkey bars so they needed to get a bit of a lift up onto the bars.
All and all it was a great effort from everyone in Room 3 and we must keep up the great work! Now we just need to keep on practising all of the different activities and we will be able to overcome all of the challenges that we faced today! Thanks to all the Westpac Sylvia Park Crew for all of their help and support with today’s first session.
